Bernard Ashley

Bernard Ashley was born in South East London, and draws on his experience as a head-teacher there to write hard hitting, gritty stories for young people.

His own adaptation of his novel “ Dodgem “ won the Royal Television Society award for the best children’s entertainment programme in 1993, and he also wrote the

 “ Clipper Street” and “ City Limits “ series.

 “ Tiger Without Teeth “ was immediately chosen as the Guardian’s Children’s book of the week when it was published last autumn.
