Author / Illustrator Profile
Michael Morpurgo

Michael Morpurgo says he is “oldish, married with three children, and a grandfather four times over.”

An ex-teacher who lives in Devon and listens to Mozart, Michael, with his wife Clare, started a charity called Farms for City Children. They now have three farms, in Devon, Wales and Gloucestershire, where ‘townie’ children can come and be farmers.

Michael hopes he can stay healthy, keep his family happy, write stories and help thousands more children to benefit from life on a farm.

Michael was chosen as Children's laureate in 2002.

He has written over 50 books, many of which have won Awards.
