J.K.Rowling

Jo grew up in Chepstowe, Gwent. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first book at the age of 5, a story about a rabbit called Rabbit.

She started writing “Harry Potter” during a train journey from Manchester to London.

Jo moved to the North of Portugal to teach English, married and had a child but kept on writing. She now lives in Edinburgh.

Harry Potter is the first novel for this author and has already won the Smarties Gold prize for the 9-12 year category and the British Book Awards’ Children’s Book of the Year. The second title in the Harry Potter series is Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets, published July 1998.
