Charlotte Voake
Charlotte Voake was born in Wales in 1957 and brought up in Chepstowe and Wirral. She has had no formal art school training, but has always had the ambition to be an illustrator. Her first book, The New Red Bike was published while she was still at London University. After completing a History of Art degree, Charlotte worked for a time at the Bluecoat Gallery in Liverpool before dedicating her time illustrating children’s books.
Charlotte is married with two children and lives in Surrey.
Titles shortlisted for Book Awards include First Things First, Mrs Goose’s Baby and Caterpillar. Ginger won the Gold Medal for the under 5’s category of the 1997 Smarties Prize and was shortlisted for the 1997 Emil/ Kurt Maschler Award.
