Author / Illustrator Profile
Lee Weatherly

Lee was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. She came over to the UK when she was 18 for a visit, but didn’t return until she came to live here at 27.

Lee married her long time friend, Geordie and now “feels quite at home “ after seven years in this country.

She has had several occupations including waitress, bookshop clerk, nanny, and hostess at a ski lodge halfway up a mountain in Sun Valley.

In addition to her writing, Lee also runs a writer’s consultancy to advise others on writing skills. Her true passion is writing, in particular for children and teenagers, and one of her dreams is to establish an annual workshop for talented teenage writers.

If Lee had been able to sing or play an instrument she says she would like to have been a singer / songwriter. She enjoys music and cycling.

Child X is Lee’s first novel for young people and is currently on two other shortlists - the American Library Association, and the Leicester Teenage Book of the Year 2003 Award

Other works include:

Alex Deftblade  the first of a fantasy trilogy called The Stone Spiral - to be published November 2003

Work in progress: Gone, to be published 2004
